Beware of highly salted curries.

High salt intake is implicated in most degenerative diseases and avoidable disabilities, and if you are overweight/obese and/or have high blood pressure or heart disease, then it is particularly important for your health to eat less salt.

This BBC News article reports on the latest research from CASH (Consensus Action on Salt and Health) into the salt levels in commercially produced curries. CASH found that the salt levels tend to be very high indeed, exceptions being
the Co-operative's Healthy Living Rogan Josh and Weightwatcher's Korma, which had just 0.5g per portion.

  1. Lobby groups such as CASH (Consensus Action on Salt and Health) do not wield enough power and influence unfortunately. The masses are oblivious to real issues such as this.

Salt consumption is probably increasing and contributing to obesity in cash strapped famileis.
Opting for cheaper salt laden ready meals and takeaways (cooking nutritious real meals is not the norm) will only make the situation worse over the coming years of austerity.
